Why Should They Work For You?

Companies. Employers. Please answer: Why should they?

Though I’ve been out of the job search market since 2013, what I’ve been hearing consistently since then is:

Most companies want too much for too little and no opportunity for growth (financial, professional, or personal).

With that being said, back to my original question: “Why should they work for you?”

Certainly, everyone needs an income. Food. Shelter. Clothing. The basics. But once those needs are met, what’s next? Fulfillment.

I understand the bleak outlook that many have about the job market these days.

Can we be honest?

It’s a mess.

There are thousands of horrific stories about over-the-top interviewing and subsequent ghosting by companies all over LinkedIn. It’s heartbreaking to learn about the treatment so many have endured (and many still are).

Have our culture become just that cold? Was hiring through posting on Monster and interviewing once or twice that bad?

I don’t think so. I remember those days. In fact, many of the people engaging in these over-the-top interviewing and hiring behaviors got their jobs back when things were simple that way. Did it work out so bad for them? Nope.

So, as we enter into this new season in our country, where they’re calling it “The Great Resignation”, do you think things will change?
